Latin American Outside Reading Book Project
1. You will choose a book from the list to read. This project is worth 30 points for honors and 10 points EXTRA CREDIT for regular level students.
2. Read the book in 4-5 weeks during the Latin American Unit/Research Paper Unit.
3. As you read the book, take notes or use sticky notes as references, and then go have a book talk with a librarian! The librarian will have a checklist of questions she will ask about your book; in addition, you should come prepared with some salient quotes that stood out to you and connections to themes we’ve discussed about Latin America in general. Please contact Ms. Zbinden (bevzbi@d219.org) or Ms. Greener (caigre@d219.org) in order to schedule this event. You will be graded on how in- depth the discussion is and your ability to make connections between the novel and the themes presented about issues in Latin America.
