A citation tells the reader the source of the information you are using in your paper. Citations have a specific format are listed in the Works Cited page at the end of your paper.

2. Create a Works Cited page.

Works Cited Page

The Works Cited page is the last page of your essay and has a specific format. Keep it on a separate page. This is a list of all your sources, with a formatted citation for each source. Create your Works Cited page before you being writing your paper. Refer to it when writing your in-text citations.

3. Use in-text citations within your writing.

In-Text Citations

(also called parenthetical Citations)

When you use information from one of your sources, include a brief in-text citation along with the information. This is also called a parenthetical citation. Each in-text citation must correspond to a full citation on your Works Cited page.
