Mission

The Library is an integral part of Niles North's educational program. Library staff collaborate with other members of the school and community, empowering students and staff with essential skills in order to use ideas and information effectively. (Linking for Learning, 2010). We accomplish our mission by providing access to print and electronic resources, providing information literacy instruction, working with classroom teachers to design and implement curriculum, and assisting individual students with reference questions and recreational reading suggestions.

Student Responsibilities

Students have access to the Library in a variety of ways, including:

  • Before school
  • With a class
  • During lunch (no pass required)
  • Students from study hall, as long as you swipe in before the bell rings
  • All students must have a blue pass from an academic teacher (not a study hall teacher) in order to swipe into the library when arriving after the bell has rung
  • When entering the library at any time (before, during, after school), students must swipe in with a staff member
