Summary

When 14-year-old Alex is framed for murder, he becomes an inmate in the Furnace Penitentiary, where brutal inmates and sadistic guards reign, boys who disappear in the middle of the night sometimes return weirdly altered, and escape might just be possible.

About the Author

Alexander Gordon Smith goes by Gordon, rather than Alexander, because his parents liked the name Gordon but didn't want his initials to spell GAS.  Gordon has written hundreds of short stories as well as other popular series, including The Inventors which was co-authored by his 11-year-old brother.
