D219 and Community Resources: Immigration Issues

Skokie Welcomes Everyone

Skokie Village Code assures:

  • You’re entitled to access all Village services and benefits – including police and fire emergency and non-emergency services – regardless of your citizenship or immigration status.
  • Village staff or officials will not ask for your citizenship or immigration status for any reason.
  • The Village will not support immigration enforcement operations or detain individuals based on their citizenship or immigration status.
  • Niles North High School is prohibited from sharing any student information without a valid judicial warrant or subpoena.

Know Your Rights!

Regardless of your immigration status, you have guaranteed rights under the Constitution. It is important for everyone to know their constitutional rights when encountering law enforcement. Here are some quick resources to help you assert those rights if necessary.

Immigrant Family Resource Program

The IFRP is a joint collaboration between the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR), the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), and 44 ethnic, community-based organizations across Illinois.

The goal of the IFRP is to connect immigrant families and other limited English-speaking persons in Illinois to the public benefits and services they need for proper health, well-being, and economic self-sufficiency.

Immigrant Justice - The Resurrection Project

The TRP Immigrant Justice Initiative serves as a trusted resource hub, keeping immigrant communities informed and empowered during challenging times. Through workshops, legal services, and advocacy, we provide critical support to navigate complex immigration issues, defend rights, and promote engagement. Our mission is to ensure every immigrant has access to trusted guidance and a voice in shaping a just future.
