Rube Goldberg (1883-1970) was a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist, sculptor and author.
In his cartoons he created elaborate machines that made simple tasks complicated.
He never built the machines he designed, but inspired generations of engineers to create such machines that truly worked.
