Getting Started Print Page

In a republic, or representative government, we expect our leaders to represent our views and beliefs in the legislative progress. Afterall, that is why we voted them into government. However, in order for our representatives to know what kind of society we want to live in, it is also our responsibility to make our views known.

You will write a professional business letter to a government representative expressing your views on one of the big questions our society faces today:

  • Are drone attacks illegal?
  • Do undocumented minors (children in the US illegally) have the right to college and documented status?
  • Does the government have the right to regulate (control) gun ownership?
  • Should the government regulate sugar-sweetened soda to control obesity?

The purpose of this project is to help us become more familiar with expressing our views on important issues to our representatives through writing a business letter.
